Squeezing in by the skin of my date-lined teeth to pen, in 44 words, a quadrille containing a form of the word tangle, as encouraged by Mish of dVerse Poets.
Last week…
Pen-tangle
Pen-tangle: five corners, each by gradual degrees.
Witchily you slay myself, and bring me to my knees;
Gagged, unbound you torture me, and hold me under siege,
Nagged and drowned and mortified; have mercy, lord my liege!
Pen-tangled chaos undermines the nightmare of disease.

Oh you definitely went dark with this one. The feeling of doom is palpable.

Funny thing is, once I’d got it out, it didn’t feel dark any more. Only a poem, only a pen-tangle; easily resolved and put on a shelf to share later, which I did. Thank you for reading and commenting after the (Quadrille) event had passed!

I love this, especially the bewitching question as to the voice of the poem, it can be read a number of ways I feel. Powerful experience.

Paul, what you say warms my heart (on a chilly misty morning here). I have been captivated by the concept of “voice” lately, even having sessions with a voice coach. Yes! – multiple voices π

O how delightful, I hope that is going well, and so glad I wasn’t off the mark.

Quite “witchily” intoned, Kathy. Loved your twist on “tangle” for this Q.

I don’t quite know what came over me, Dora… I was seduced by the words…
