De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) at dVerse Poets Pub has prompted us to write and publish our own quadrille – a poem of exactly 44 words – this time including a version of the word “pinch”.

It’s been a long (and lovely) day so this, in brief, is my quick attempt to quaddle, befor I waddle off to my bed.

'Pinch me lest I'm dreaming'

When first our fingers met,

As dawn began to leak its show

Of gold. O you were tender then.


Pinch me, 'cos I'm scheming

To get away before

The bitter tea-leaves rearrange

As death-watch beetles:

Yours, mine, the Planet's
